About Us

Rockwell & Ashland Mercantile is a Chicago-inspired boutique created for people who see personality, humor, and meaning in the objects they surround themselves with. Our goods celebrate the everyday poetry of city life — the rumble of the “L,” the character of Chicago’s architecture, the nostalgia of neighborhood rituals, and the quiet pride people feel about where they live.

The shop was founded by Patrick Caffery, a longtime retail professional with deep roots in the apparel industry. Patrick spent years working in fashion and retail leadership roles, developing an understanding of how clothing and design can help people express who they are. Apparel, at its best, isn’t just something you wear — it’s a language. It tells the world a little about your sense of humor, your values, your nostalgia, and your identity.

After years working in the retail world, Patrick wanted to create something more personal: a brand that blends thoughtful design, a love of Chicago, and a little irreverent humor. Rockwell & Ashland Mercantile was born from that idea — a place where objects feel like small pieces of storytelling.

Many of our products are inspired by the things that make Chicago unique: its transit lines, its architecture, its neighborhoods, and its unmistakable personality. From wooden-wick candles inspired by the city’s “L” trains to graphic apparel and design-driven goods, everything we make is meant to feel authentic, playful, and rooted in place.

At its core, Rockwell & Ashland Mercantile exists for the same reason people love great cities: to help us connect with each other. The things we wear and the objects we keep in our homes can say something about who we are — sometimes with humor, sometimes with nostalgia, and sometimes with a little bit of soul.

We hope our goods help you express a little bit of yours.
